Hello, Forum I drive a silver '09 Honda Civic 149,000 miles in Chicago. I noticed a few rust spots on the paint job, what can I do?? The paint is actually gone in a few small spots. Help?! {black}:serious:
Ifnubare not handy at body work, best thing to do is grind off the spots, then buy at a (paint and body supply store) rust killer of some sort. Apply that, then match the paint best you can. Rust stop will keep it from coming back.
Thank you.
I have the same generation and they all have this paint problem (the little spots are clearcoat slowly fading off from sun exposure (UV rays), once the clearcoat is out the rays will eat the paint until it reaches bare metal. Bare metal is where the rust starts. For the rust to stop, you need to remove all the rusted surfaces until all the rust is gone, then apply paint or some kind of protectant.
If you don't want to do it yourself, you can get it to a body shop that will get rid of the rust and paint it back like brand new, but sadly it is quite expensive.
Thank you.
