Hi Scotty,
My name is Roy and i wanted to know if you could help me with a small problem that i have. We have an 04 cavalier 2.2 that has stumped me about the ac. The car has plenty refrigerant in the system and also the clutch is working fine but no cold air, or the lines do not even try to get cold. I’m thinking possibly that it has a circulation problem maybe something stopped up and i wanted your professional opinion before we go any farther on what to do. Thanks, Roy
How do you know there is "plenty of refrigerant in the system"? It's quite likely some has leaked out over the last 18 years. Have you evacuated the AC and charged in the correct amount by weight? What are the high and low system presssures?
If you want to troubleshoot your car's AC you'll need a set of gauges.
There's plenty of AC guys on youtube and Scotty has done some AC videos too.
To even begin to understand what's going on you'll need to be able to see the Low side and the High side pressure readings.
If you need a set of gauges click on the Tools link in the upper right hand corner of this page. There's a set of Orion gauges for $40.
So buy some gauges and watch a few youtubes to get an idea of what you're looking for .
