Hello Scotty, air is blowing in my car but AC does not blow cold air in my 2007 Honda CRV (194,000 miles). My mechanic suggested replacing leaking AC condenser. I told him that I'll do it later. What is your suggestion? If AC condenser is defective, which AC condenser will be good one?
If your mechanic has checked for leaks already and determined its the condenser then get a OEM condenser. Stay away from the cheap ones, they are often low quality. There are many other components on an AC. That is why it is important to check for leaks first. Good Luck.
If he has checked for leaks & has confirmed that’s what’s leaking, go ahead.
If not, start here -
Thanks
The condenser is the radiator-like device right behind your grille, between it and the engine's radiator. I could see that leaking, since it's one of the first things on your car that road debris can hit. The condenser in my Ranger had holes all over it, the leak dye made it look like it got paint balled. I replaced mine myself with a cheap one because it's my beater, though I regret that sometimes. It has held up just fine after 10 months. A/C still blows cold.
I bought my own manifold gauges and vacuum pump to do the work and spent about $320 on everything.
Go with an original equipment or a top brand
Have you tried to get it refilled and test it
Thanks for the suggestion. Not yet.
