I have a 2004 Mazda 3 i with 180,000 miles on it. When I am using the air conditioner, the compressor turns off (the clutch disengages) and the fan turns off every 2 minutes or a few seconds then the compressor turns back on (the clutch reengages) and the fan turns back on in a few seconds. The air coming out of the vents is cold the whole time I use the air conditioner. My gauge off my AC/PRO refill can reads 30 psi on the low side when the compressor and fan are on. Is this normal or is there something wrong?
Well that pressure is fine. Should be around that when it's running. Now. If it keeps going on and off. It's generally one of two things. Either. You are somewhat low on refrigerant and the only reason it's called now is cuz it's not too hot outside. Or there is an internal restriction in the system and now when it blocks up the compressor will shut off until the high side pressure goes down and then once the pie side pressure goes down it will turn itself back on. You really want to check both the low and high pressures
