My automatic 2006 matrix with 118k miles has an issue when the ac is on and going 50mph plus the engine has a lurching sensation. The rpm’s and speed don’t change when this occurs. When the ac is off going the same speed everything feels normal.

The 16 year old compressor is probably going out and loading the engine. What happens when you are idling and turn on the AC, does the rpm drop significantly?
I haven’t noticed any change but will continue to check. Thanks for the reply.
