Hi scotty,
I got an Buick Enclave 2016 with only 65k miles, the AC stop working when to the dealer and they said the rear evaporator is leaking, they quoted me $1800 for the blower and evaporator replacement, is there any good mechanic in the DFW area that you might know trustworthy so I can get a second opinion, also I research it that the was a service bulletin referring to the rear evaporator and the blower, stating that the evaporator would contaminated the evaporator with some cooper dust therefore the blower need to be replaced with a new design to prevent the cooper dust been ingested to the evaporator.... need help to find a good mechanic in the DFW area.
thanks {black}:hi: {black}:hi:

You really don't need a "good mechanic" to confirm the leak. Anyone with a decent electronic leak detector can remove the rear blower control module and stick the leak detector in there to confirm the dealer's diagnosis.
The issue was, as the copper brushes on the rear blower motor wore, they created copper dust which was blown onto the evaporator coil and caused it to corrode and leak.
Frankly, $1800 is about what I'd expect a dealer to quote. It's a labor intensive job to get to the unit. Then the cost of parts, and the normal flushing, evacuation, and recharge of the system.
Any Auto A/C Shop will have a good electronic leak detector and can give you a 2nd opinion.
Thanks for the answer, i guess i have no choice but to change that rear evaporator 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
