I'm changing the AC compressor (Compressor body is damaged forcing a replacement.) & drier in my 1993 f-250.  The old unit ran the old R-12.  if I switched the compressor and drier to R-134a, will the old oil left behind in the rest of the lines damage the new compressor?

Thanks,

P

Here's a step-by-step from a Ford forum - looks like you're going to need a kit/some additional parts

You need to flush out as much of the old oil as possible. It is not compatible with R134a.

You might want to consider replacing those 30-year-old AC hoses while you're at it.
