I have an 02 forester with 206k on it. AC makes a whistling sound about every 13-15 seconds or when the defogger is on, only. It still cools but don't want it to get worse down the road (no pun). I usually ride with windows down so I haven't taken it that seriously. I did have a brand new compressor installed 5 years ago. What could possibly be causing the whistling sound? Are there any recommendations for reputable mechanics in RTP area, NC?
since it only does it with the defroster on I would assume there's a problem with the vent system like a bad valve that opens and closes the defrost that sucks air and then whistles or something stuck in there that makes it whistle like a piece of paper or something that fell into defrostol
