- I have a 2003 cadillac deville and no air blows from front vents but blows on defrost. I replace the 2 actuators under driver side panel and also replace the one in the glove box. Is there another actuator, if so where is it located
There are actuators inside the dash requiring removal of the entire dash you might want to pay a mechanic to analyze it versus bidirectional scan tool to find out which ones are actually wrong rather than take all that stuff apart
You want the Mode Actuator.
It's below the one you replaced on the passenger side. You didn't see it because that plastic HVAC duct was hiding it.
The service manual wants you to remove the dash to get access it.
But that adds about 5 hours to the job. People have figured out "ham fisted" ways to get around removing the dashboard.
They use a dremel tool to cut that plastic duct out of the way and then when the actuator is replaced they use duct tape to seal the cut.
Here's a couple of pics and a video of a guy doing the replacement on an 8th generation (2000-2005) DeVille.
The 1st is Before he cuts the plastic duct and you can see the Air Temperature Actuator (top left).
The 2nd is After he cuts the plastic duct and removes it. You can see the Air Temperature Actuator and the Mode Actuator
