[Solved] Acura Transmission Fluid Change

Hello,

I bought a 2007 Acura TL Base from a dealership about a month ago with only 105k miles. Car looks and runs great and only has a few minor codes pop up, so it seems to be ok.

However, I have no idea if the transmission fluid has ever been changed/flushed before (Acura recommends flushing even though I know to avoid that). When I checked the fluid recently, it appears to be a dark red color, but I would rather change it out and start keeping track of when it will next be due.

I heard online that I should have the fluid drained and changed at least three times to make sure I get as much of the old fluid out as possible. Is that really advisable or should I only do it once? Thanks!

once is enough

Thank you so much for your answer Joe! I’m going to have it done as soon as I can.

See our ATF sticky under FAQ:

Thank you DayWalker! The FAQ doesn’t really answer this specific question that I had, but I did learn a lot from reading it! Appreciate it!

Just do it once. Unless you feel like wasting money, of course.
