Hello,
My dad has a 2017 Honda CRV automatic with around 40K miles, and we're looking to install and wire a second battery to run camping accessories like a fridge and assorted portable devices. This second battery would sit somewhere in the trunk area.
Do we need to purchase the same exact battery as the main vehicle's battery or something different? Do we also need to replace the OE alternator with an aftermarket higher power alternator used in high-end audio setups to accommodate the second battery?

If you want to put more load on the car, it is a good idea to get a bigger alternator and battery.
