Like an idiot I bought a newish ford again and once again I’m up [expletive deleted] creek. The engine is likely cracked due to a bad batch of castings and it’s out of warranty… I still owe about 14k on it. If it really turns out to be the engine I won’t be able to afford the fix. If it’s just a head gasket I can afford it assuming it’s under 3k. What would you do if the engine is indeed cracked?

What are the symptoms? Losing coolant? Coolant in the oil or vice versa?
You did not state the model, year, or mileage of your vehicle. You could check and see if there is a service campaign still in effect. Or if the vehicle is not long out of warranty Ford corporate may be willing to cover at least part of the repair cost.

Also consider replacing with a rebuilt engine with a warranty, or find a junkyard that warranties their engines. (usually between 3 and 6 months)
