After the wheel is turned either left or right and I accelerate from rom a stop I hear whining sound. 2006 Honda Ridgeline 170 k miles. Power steering fluid has been changed. Is this a transmission problem?
If it only happens after turning left or right it's most likely the power steering pump. Did you use Honda power steering fluid when you changed it? Hondas have their own spec for that, you should not use a generic fluid. (Many will say right on the bottle not for use in Honda vehicles.)
Yes Honda fluid was used. The whining does not happen when I turn the wheel but when accelerate from a stop turning right or left.
