AI and internet opinions

Not a specific question, more of just thinking about ways to ask and answer questions here...

With the proliferation of AI-generated content on the internet (including YouTube), it has started to impress me how valuable this website and Scotty's videos are.  I don't care how sophisticated people think modern AI's are, the content they generate is garbage.

For example, if you joojell search for "best wiper blades for snow" or "best digital torque wrench", most search results will be just AI-generated junk.  AIs don't drive in the snow or use torque wrenches.  All they know is what they learn from crawling the internet, which is mostly advertising.  So unless you are really discriminating in where you get your information, most of what you find is just regurgitated marketing slogans without any actual product testing.  Reminds me of the scene in "Elf" when Buddy goes to New York and finds "The World's Best Cup Of Coffee" (Congratulations!! You did it!!) - that's about how helpful most information is these days.

So that's why this website is so helpful.  Real people who have driven real cars and use real tools to fix them.  I know it gets old when the 500th first time poster asks what OBD scan tool to get (Check the FAQ!).  But reliable information from real people is good as gold these days.

Real-world knowledge and hands on experience is priceless.

AI has no personality or passion. Scotty has both. Many of the frequent contributors on here have that too.
