I have a 88 toyota camry with 100000 miles, runs grate. Auto shop is telling me they CANNOT fix my air conditioning. can you Help thanks, Robert

That's still not anything to go on. You could need anything from a leaky hose replaced to the entire AC system replaced. The shop you went to might just not want to bother with working on a 34-year-old car or in their judgement it might cost more than the car is worth. There's no way for us to tell with the information you have provided so far.
We have no way of actually examining the car. We have to rely on people here giving us as much detail as possible.
More information is needed. What does the shop say is wrong with it? Have you taken it elsewhere for a second opinion? Has it been converted to R134a refrigerant?
