Hey Scotty, why are american car brands like Buick not sold in Europe? For 10 years Chevrolet left Europe, and it does not seem that they will return even after selling Opel to the french. Why do north american car brands avoid the european market? Ford that is sold in Europe cannot be compared to Ford that is sold in USA.
European requirements are different. Aside from differences in regulations, fuel is crazy expensive there, meaning smaller cars and engines, and driving patterns are very different. (Not as many 3000 mile cross-country trips there.) Additionally in the UK people drive on the wrong side of the road and it's expensive to accommodate that.
I drove an American spec 1976 Ford Mustang Ghia in the UK back in the 70's. That was quite an experience - passing cars was a major risk. Not to mention they didn't have unleaded gas back then so I had to have the cat removed.
