Hey everyone my brother just recently moved to Austin where he doesn't know anyone there, other than co-workers, and he needs help trying to find an honest mechanic there. Many of the mechanics recommended in the FAQs are from Houston/Dallas/Fort Worth. I was thinking about taking my car over to him and taking out a spark plug out to have a mechanic test it out to see if he is honest or not, but I do not know if that would work. Any recommendations? Showing a mechanic a spark plug isn't necessary. It would shed no light on whether he's honest or dishonest because he could answer to your satisfaction and still be as crooked as they come. Mechanics you hear about through 'word of mouth' recommendations.. they are the best. Good luck with your search
