Apple CarPlay is not working- 2023 Hyundai Kona Limited

2023 Hyundai Kona Limited 20,119 mi AWD 1.5 GDI Turbo Automatic Transmission

I am trying to help my sister diagnose her car (see vehicle details above) as her Apple CarPlay does not connect. She took it to the dealer (the vehicle is still under warranty) and could not replicate the issue after two hours of diagnosing. The dealer told her she had an issue with her phone, not the vehicle. 

I, on the other hand, instantly recreated the problem. Bluetooth works fine, but no Apple CarPlay, even with my phone, which is a different phone. Nothing that I try fixes anything:

- Infotainment screen software updated (last updated November 24, 2025, around one month prior to this posting) 

-Powered off and turned on vehicle again

-tried connecting my phone (brand new)

-tried her usb in an alternate vehicle, aka my car. Her USB and phone works perfectly in my vehicle, but not in hers. 

-Battery cables and terminals checked, no rust or signs of corrosion present.

She is at her wits end with this, and I don't know what to do either. Maybe someone on this forum who knows more about Korean cars than I do can help?

If you want an entertainment system that will work with a minimum of fuss, install something like this:

Well I know absolutely nothing about Apple carplay because I hate Apple products since my son bought some when he went to college and they all broke and I of course paid for them all. Then I switched to Androids and he's had no problems since. I use Android auto and it works great in all my cars. I would assume it has something to do with the Hyundai design. Since it doesn't work with either of your iPhones. And of course those idiots at the Hyundai dealer don't know anything. I see that all the time. I'd advise contacting some iPhone nerds. They could probably figure it out. Because I don't know anything at all about iPhones

Infotainment screen software updated

Was Carplay working before the software update? You might try resetting the infotainment system: https://www.consumerreports.org/cars/automotive-technology/how-to-reboot-your-cars-infotainment-system-a1056723043/?EXTKEY=YCRMAGAUG23


@hixster I tried resetting the infotainment system.
