I have a 04 Corolla Seca Accent (hatch) auto. 136,000k. Japan built (A Scotty Matrix version).I'd be interested in some feed back from any motor mates out there about this topic.I do basic services now money is tight.About 3 years ago my mechanic did a full service all fluids & front brake pads.I though it was time to replace the air filter as it was getting a touch stained & discoloured. I noticed the old filter ( RYCO) had 32 Pleats on one side & 34 pleats on the other. I wanted to return my Corolla back to ALL O.E.M. parts & discard the after market parts.SO i got an OEM filter from the dealer BUT noticed it only had 16 pleats one side & 18 the other? A vid by Scotty said the MORE pleats the better? yet the OEM has less? doe's this mean toyota are making cheap parts now days? & was the old filter better? would love to hear your fed back on this CHEERS! Norm.
