Are sedans worth buying in 2024?

I've noticed that some automakers have either discontinued all sedans or only few left in their current lineup and I have a feeling that they're going to offer only SUV's and trucks in the future. SUV's are getting popular these days but the problem is they're expensive to buy and I'm not looking to carry more passengers or have extra cargo space. I'm just looking for something that is cheaper to buy and insure, reliable, and good on gas that gets point A to point B.

There is nothing wrong with a sedan, and because they are not as "Cool" as SUVs, you might be able to get a better deal.

Take for example the Camry, overall very reliable, easy to drive, and comfortable. Not to mention, they can be very good on gas, especially compared to an SUV like a highlander.

"SUVs" are overrated, in my opinon. Most of them are just soccer mom minivans with more "attitude". They can't do actual SUV stuff. Rock climbing, etc. Haha. Only a few SUVs are actual SUVs - body-on-frame vehicles.

Manufacturers love SUVs because they have looser CAFE regulations than compacts/sedans, which is funny because they're often just sedan platforms with different sheet metal.

@justin-shepherd Yeah totally agree. Nearly all of them are like @imperator said, sedan platforms with different sheet metal. Like another guy asked about a RX350 for towing, it is very similar to a V6 car trying to tow, it is a nice vehicle, but it isn't a real truck.

Toyotas are. That's about it.

The market is demanding unibody SUV/crossover, so that is what they are making. But sedans can still provide good value, if you don’t want a unibody SUV/crossover.
