Are there any negative effects removing my catalytic converter on my 2011 Hybrid Lincoln MKZ
Also have a 2014 Prius, 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan, 2008 Audi A4 that I would like to remove the catalytic converter if possible without causing any problems. Moved to Washington where it's not required.
Its illegal.
It provides no performance benefits, only breaks the law and will cause your CEL to come on, possibly get worse gas millage too.
Removing all the CATs on your cars is silly.
The main problem would be the huge fines if you're caught. Benefits would be nil.
Yes as everyone said it's illegal to do so and there's close to no benefits, so don't remove it. Yes I had an old car that the cat converter went out and just removed it and drove it, but I wouldn't go about removing it purposefully on my cars.
It sux that it is illegal, but with that MKZ im guessing it has a turbo on it you need back pressure for turbos get alot of lag if straight piped plus the sensors messing with your ecu telling your car that there is a problem which sometimes make it run 2 lean and blow your motor but like most said very illegal and honestly if its failing you are probably getting to much blow by already clogging it. I mean when i had my 93 talon awd turbo i punched it and made a dyson vortex inside of it with stainless mesh plate worked pretty well and relined the inside of it with Kaloa wool for temp control, but not worth the risk honestly.

Your state might not, but the EPA does, and that's Federal which supercedes your state laws.

it made some great back pressure and didnt allow any turbo feed back thru the exhaust and due to the mesh it was almost like a cherry bomb lol 4banger sounding like a 6 makes me feel all good inside lmao, instead it farting down the road lmao NO offense to anyone running a can thats just not for me lmao.
