if you live on the top of hill or where you drive downhill right away, the vehicle will not be as stressed as it would be if you had to immediately go uphill with the engine cold. After you park your car after coming home and going uphill, I noticed the vehicle will be hotter. My 1989 S10-Blazer's muffler just went out for the first time and I was wondering if the the reason it lasted 34 years was that when I parked after going uphill, the extra heat burned off any condensation in the exhaust system which prevented it from corroding.

less hills is less wear and tear, but nobody chooses their home location for the sake of their cars.
