Hello
Is it safe to flush an automatic transmission?

It depends on the conditions, but generally it is not a good idea to flush the automatic transmission.

Alright, thank you.

It is better to just do a drain and fill. Power flushing can cause damage. Also change the filter if applicable.

Cristal clear. Thanks.

If done correctly, yes. But the real question is why?

If you service the AT regularly and there's no major contamination then it's totally unnecessary.

True. Thanks.

I would flush the ATF as a last effort to see if I could get it to shift properly. Some people claim that they got their AT to work properly after doing a flush. If it's already slipping why not try a flush. Maybe you'll get lucky and won't have to get a new or rebuilt transmission.

Alright, thanks.
