Automatic to manual conversion possible?

😃 Hey Scotty!

I recently bought a '99 Honda Accord EX 2.3 liter eng. 179k original miles and runs very well. My question is would it be possible to convert it to a manual transmission? And if so, how bad will that be cost wise? I'm 50 years young, had 6 Honda's since learning to drive  ('78 CVCC hb) and I've loved every single one of them. I just get very bored with automatics and am seriously thinking about changing to a 5 speed of its even possible.

Thanks for all of your hard work and dedication. I've really learned a lot watching you!

Much Love,

T

I've done a lot of conversions. It is definitely possible, but I don't think it would be financially worth it in your case. You'll spend way more doing the swap than you paid for the car.

I know that on some vehicles, the engine crankshafts are different for manuals and automatics.  Not worth doing just because you're bored.

if 99 Honda Accord come in both manual and auto yes you can but expect to do heavy work such as welding maybe changing the cross member. or you can sell and buy the manual one.

if they did not made a manual accord then search for compatible transmission honda made. good luck with your project!

Of course it is doable.  How much money do you have?  See if you can get a manual and all the parts out of a wreck.  The, you'll need to get the ECU reprogrammed too.
