Automatic Transmission fluid change

Hey Scotty I know you recommend changing ATF fluid via a regular change and not a power flush. As I understand it changing it only replaces some percent of the fluid. Is this true? If so, do I just change that much of it?

Yes, only some of the fluid drains out of the pan. They idea is to clean the sediment off the pan, the magnet, and to change the filter. It's enough to keep the transmission going.

The drain and fill, you have to measure what drained out so you know how much to put back in. Generally it's done about 3 times (sometimes more). You didn't mention what year, make, model vehicle you're asking about. There's plenty of videos out there that are vehicle specific, some are made by shops and some diy people. There's not 1 procedure for all.
