Hi, I have a Subaru Tribeca with 100k miles, five speed automatic transmission. I've bought it one year ago with 90k miles.
It always kicked from 2nd to 3rd gear, up and down shifting. I did a transmission service 6 months ago.
The overall gear shifting improved, but the kicking is still there.
On winter it only kicks on high rpms. What could it be? Thanks.
Odds are you have an internal damage to your transmission. Ask a professional mechanic who works on transmission to check it with the scan tool to pinpoint the issue.
Thanks for the answer! I don't drive like a lunatic, I run 10k miles a year. Can I leave it alone or should I take it to a transmission shop?
You can live with it since it does not worth rebuilding the transmission. I would live with it until I can not drive it anymore and then either I junk the car or swap with one from a junkyard.
