How do I fix malfunctioning automatic door locks

2006 Honda CRV touring with 78000 miles

Doors unlock as you approach the vehicle rather than when you touch the door handle. Then after you lock them to leave, they again unlock as you walk away. Mechanic has used the sophisticated tester and found nothing on codes. Used to happen only on passenger's door, now on both drivers and passenger's door.

Have not taken to dealer, but current mechanic says he can find no bulletins or codes.

I’m confused. As far as I’m aware, this model year CR-V didn’t come with walk away auto lock/unlock from the factory. Does your vehicle come equipped with this feature? Is any aftermarket locking system installed?

The car never did this. The problem is it "unlocks" as you walk away. So your car is now open to thiefs. It happened suddenly. First it was only the passenger door, now it is both. It also unlocks as you approach. Only supposed to do this once you touch the handle.

So it does have request sensors with the auto door lock/unlock feature, like the newer CR-Vs?

Change the battery on the fob.

Do you also have another keyfob to try?

I've had a very similar issue, and I found out it was the wiring that was having a "bad contact", since the behavior was also very random at different weeks...
