Toyota Avalon discontinued. Still a smart purchase?

Is it smart to buy a Toyota Avalon? I am concerned about parts being available and resale value. I am looking at purchasing model years 2018 through the last year model 2022 or 23 whatever. If not what full size sedan would you buy?

It is still a smart purchase.  It shares a similar platform as the Lexus ES and Toyota Camry, so getting parts should not be an issue.  In fact, one could make the argument getting an Avalon is better than getting a Lexus ES due to overall lower cost of ownership.

I have a 41 year old Toyota and still have no trouble getting parts.

@Doc Just curious what model and mileage on your 41 year old?

4x4 pickup, about 280K miles. @avalono4

If they are willing to discount it, why not - it's a good car.

But resale values will probably drop (maybe by a bit, maybe by a lot) as it's a discontinued model name.

Just verify you're not looking at a tranny that was included in an NHTSA service bulletin.

And if it's an older model year, that it was updated at the dealer for the latest firmware.
