Should I replace CV axle boots

Hey scotty,

I have 2015 altima with 172,000 miles and I noticed my axle boots are ripped off and since Altima's are money pit, I don't want to put much money on it. Is just replacing the boot is worth it. My axles don't seem to make any noise.

no

Once the boot rips it can get dirt and trash in it, replacing the boot likely won't help. Also unless you plan to do it yourself, most places don't even like doing it anymore, at least that is my experience, especially considering the cx axle doesn't cost much.

I tried to find a place that will do just the boot, I couldn’t find one. Most shops now just replace parts rather than repair parts. If it needs fixing eventually, you’ll probably need a new or refurbished axle.
