Dear Scotty,
While changing pads and rotors on my 2015 Altima, the rotors cane lose without the removing the axle nut. Is the axle nut big deal?
Thanks:)

Is the axle nut big deal?
The only thing the axle nut does, is keep the axle shaft from falling out of the bearing. Is your axle shaft falling out?
The brake rotor is held on by the wheel lug nuts.
The axle nut can't possibly have anything to do with it, because brake rotors have a giant hole in the middle.
The axel nut was rusted out
ok

You need the axle nut. Replace it and tighten it to the required torque spec

Perfectly normal, you don't need to remove the axle nut to remove brake rotors.
