I have a 2015 Toyota Camry. I took care of it since I purchased it new. The only mistake I did, I followed the manufacturer-recommended oil change every 10k miles instead 5k miles.
Anyway, around 110k I started to hear noise in the engine and Toyota dealer changed it for free because I had a lifetime powertrain warranty from the dealer when I bought it. Because the car is old, the Toyota dealer installed a reconditioned engine supplied by JARCO, INC (a company providing reconditioned and remanufactured Toyota engines to Toyota dealers exclusivity in the southeast of the U.S.).
The reconditioned engine ran smoothly, and for the first 5000 miles, I checked the oil dipstick weekly, and the oil level never changed. However, after I changed the oil at 5000 miles using Valvoline full syntactic, I started to see the oil level going down (half a quarter after driving 4000 miles).
When I saw that immediately took the car to Toyota dealer to change the oil again just to be sure I did not do anything wrong. After driving 900 miles again, I saw the oil level decrease. Not sure why that is happening. It is possible they added some additives to the reconditioned engine; therefore first 5000 miles oil level never changed?
fyi, I called JARCO and they told that all reconditioned oil will come from salvage cars with less than 40k miles and they do pressure test, replace seals, water pump and sparking plug before they supply it to any dealer.
Well you got ripped off. Basically they sold you a used engine and they lie about mileage all the time. I wouldn't trust those people as far as I can throw them. And as you'll find out, the warranty on those things is pretty much useless. They don't say anything that they won't burn oil. They'll just tell you that's normal
