Bad mpg

Hi Scotty,

I have a 2010 Subaru Forester 2.5 x single over head cam.  When the car was new I was getting 27 mpg combined them got a notice to bring the car in for mandatory recall or I couldn't register the car, they did something to the computer now the max combined mpg is 20.  It had something to do with the partial zero emissions vehicle for the first five years, now that's over is there anything I can do to get the computer back the way it was from the Subaru factory in Japan, back when it ran good and got better milage?

Thanks for your time and effort keep up the good work!

P.s. go figure less mpg is better for the environment hahaha

Unfortunately it is very doubtful. If Subaru set it to their current specs, then you are getting the best MPG they can give.

Of course, cleaning your fuel filter/air filter, keeping your tires properly inflated, and just general maintenance can help you achieve the best possible MPG, but I don't see it getting back to 27 again.
