hey my transmission pan just recently started leaking a little bit which i blame on my dad bc i let him help me since he wouldnt leave me alone bc he didnt trust me to do it on my own. i only tightened the bolts and did everything else including putting the gasket and rtv on which i know now that u only need to use one now so i guess he shouldnt trust himself either since he also didnt know and that aint the only thing he did wrong lol so im not letting him help me this time but when he put it on somehow he ripped the gasket and there was like a third of an inch gap so at least now i know y it was leaking. sry for rambling just didnt want u thinking im the dumbass who ripped it and still put it on there lmao. now to my question when i cleaned the pan out i noticed that some of the oil was a little black which i know is the old oil that was stuck in the torque converter and not the new but im wondering if that means i need to replace the filter

this post was meant for bruce ree bc hes the one who helped me the last time but if anyone else knows for sure id appreciate the help. thanks

You are going to have to get another trans pan gasket to redo the job.  Get a filter too and change that also.  Do not flush, just fluid and filter.

ya im just gonna use gasket maker instead of an actual gasket thanks a lot

Good choice. I think the gasket maker is far better than the gasket itself.

y do some people use both the gasket and the gasket maker. i was gonna use just the gasket maker but the filter came with the gasket so now im wondering if i should just do both...

Can't hurt.
