Scotty, why cant anyone build a reliable transmission anymore. Back in the 80s and 90s you very seldom heard of vehicles with transmission issues. Now if you do a google search, every one of them since 2000 is listed. HELP. How can anyone buy a good used car when the tranny may die on you within 2 or 3 months.

Well the problem is too much complexity to get too many speeds to try to get a little bit better gas mileage. And the old saying that if anything can go wrong it will go wrong, well when there's a much more complicated machine there's many more chances of things going wrong. Plus to get the best gas mileage they run kind of strange computer algorithms so they don't seem to shift right for a lot of people in certain RPMs and speeds and going up or down hills. So they think something's wrong but that's just how the stupid things are designed.

Buy one with a manual transmission.
