scotty said in a video to add a whole bottle of bars leak, i tryed to look up how many quarts the van has he was fixing but was unable. the bottel i got after watching the video said only half because i have 4 quarts tank on my 2013 buick verano 2.4 basic, no turbo 215,382 miles heres the video im talking about. " People Say I’m Full of Crap, Well Watch This (youtube.com) " can someone clarify if i need whole bottle and to not read its directions.
Why not do a proper repair instead? Those "mechanic in a bottle or can" sealers are temporary bandaids at best that may plug up your cooling system and may not work for long - or at all. (You did not mention where the leak is.)
If you really want to try the stuff follow the manufacturer's directions.
@chucktobias Bars leak is head gasket sealer, the engine has 215,000 miles on it, i dont have 2,143.00 to fix the head gasket, the kit is 211.00 the labor is alot. ive already spent 10,000.00 in last 6 months doing timing chain and 8 different sensors, radiator, fan, temp gauge, spark plugs etc.. scotty even explains in his videos its not worth it. i could find more things breaking the engine down to fix the gasket that could be worn etc..
I'd get rid of the thing if it's that much trouble, but if you're lucky the Bars Leak may provide some temporary relief while you look for a replacement vehicle.
@chucktobias i spent years in prison innocent, my rights violated, i was refused the right to fight at trail, i now cant vote, cant carry a gun, cant get a apartment due to being a violent felon, no respectable woman wants to date or marry a felon. the government treats me like a slave. i dont like the government, i refuse to pay taxes. point is i sleep in my car with my 2 dogs, and work side jobs and panhandle 30$ every day for food and gas. i dont have money for a new car. i dont have money for the fix for the one i do have. i live in colorado its gonna get cold this winter.. good days will come, positive thoughts..
@chucktobias im still unsure if scotty meant to use the whole bottle. i only have half a bottle in the car right now.
I understand, "the system" is incredibly corrupt and I know of far too many people who have been chewed up by it for no good reason. However this forum isn't the place to get into that discussion. I certainly do hope things improve.
With those kind of "sealer" products you really should follow the manufacturer's recommendations to the letter. If you over-dose your cooling system with the stuff it will greatly increase the chance of clogging things up, adding to the long list of problems with that car.
@chucktobias how long do you think it will take to clog things up? days months? because i have a warrenty on radiator and radiator fan, temp gauge, temp sonsor, water pump that got installed with timing chain, because ive paid alot of money within the last 3 or 4 months. also great news car might not be over heating now, i moved the hot coolant line that was touching the plug of power to the radiator fan, which was not spinning while over heating till i touched it, and now that i moved the hot coolant line, no over heat! so far, fans working i have the hood closed and ac on blowing cold. no problems so far,
@chucktobias fan seems to be damaged. so warranty fix yay!
No way to tell how long a clog might take to form, there are too many variables. I'd think if it was going to happen it would be pretty quickly though. Very good that it's no longer overheating.
