If it dies right after you bought a new one there is something draining your battery. Time to get the volt meter out and go on a wild goose chase. Something is being left on or grounded out while your car is off.

Also check your grounds and alternator. But if the battery and alternator were both bad you would've been stranded.

If you haven't got one already in your toolkit, grab yourself an inexpensive multimeter.

Measure the battery voltage with the engine running. If it's not at least 13V then your alternator is going out.

In a pinch you can try this: park in front of a wall at night, idling, and turn on your headlights. Now shut off the car. The headlights should get dimmer.

Load test your alternator. If it is good, you may have battery drain somewhere.
