Would it damage my 2023 dodge challenger scat pack in any way to disconnect the battery every time I leave it to prevent theft? I am thinking about getting a remote battery disconnect for it, but I also worry about the aftermarket battery disconnect failing while driving causing an accident due to power steering loss from a disconnected battery.
You don't want to be cutting power to a modern car any more than you need to. If the purpose is to prevent theft, then it's much safer to just pull out a critical fuse. Like for the fuel pump, fuel injection system , or something like that. That way you're not cutting power to the computer and losing your settings each time. That being said, your car should already be protected against theft via the key and passive immobilization. The antitheft system should be described in your owners manual.
Well it's a modern car and when you disconnect the battery it resets all kinds of stuff. It won't hurt anything. But the car May idle weird for a while and other things may go a little bonkers until you drive it for a while. You're better off hooking up some kind of computerized anti-theft system if you don't trust the anti-theft system that's already in the car
