2002 1mz-fe V6 camry. manual. 391800km

Got a professional to do a timing belt change and I give him the parts but.... the timing belt kit had the wrong belt tensioner on it. He reused the OLD one from the car. UNNEW. is this any risk with this? or should it be okay?

would you recommend amazon for parts? https://www.amazon.com.au/Aisin-TKT-024-Engine-Timing-Water/dp/B008EEYWIA/ ???

Amazon is notorious for fakes. The item in your link is unavailable anyway.

I wouldn't mess around too much with internal engine parts. I would go to your local reputable parts counter and a get a part you can be sure is genuine.

The OEM part is only $35. You can't complain about that price!

With that many miles on it, I would replace the tensioner. That's an awful lot of mileage. The tensioner is certainly worn

NO!!!

Why would you take a chance with a critical engine part like that?

This video is about fuel injectors but it pertains to the "kwality" of any parts you get from Amazon:

Another video about poor quality Amazon parts:

Even if the part claims to be OEM or from the OE manufacturer, both Amazon and eBay are notorious for selling counterfeit parts.

is Rock Auto legit for timing belt kits and hydraulic tensioner? https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=3290592&cc=1375196&pt=5759&jsn=806

and your link...? or they same as amazon?

@deeepbrain you can trust rockauto. Definitely not the same as Scamazon, but Rockauto is quite a ways from Oz. You'll end up paying through the nose for shipping. Why not go to a local parts dealer?

$689 AUD from toyota dealer.... which is $493USD... for timing belt kit
