Battery light

Hello. I also have a 2013 Chrysler 200 2.4 liter engine. The battery light intermittently comes on. Now I have a new battery and the alternator puts out 14.3 volts while driving. There are no error codes. It seems to me that the light comes on more while using me ac. Thanks

Try it with the air conditioner on max A/C. Your alternator may be getting weak. You're increasing the load on your alternator and it's unable to keep up, sometimes. Given that the alternator may be the original one, that could definitely be the case.

I forgot to mention, did you manually check your voltages with a multimeter, or did you rely on the car's "built-in" multimeter? Manually putting one up to the battery is preferable vs the car telling you what it is.

Yes I used a multimeter

Go back, start your car and run it on max AC, it works best when it's a hot day. It stains your battery and alternator the most. If you really want to, turn your headlights on, too. This should be enough to try the battery light if that's indeed the problem.

Ok I’ll try that. Is it possible the drive belt is bad?

It would keep running, if the drive belt were bad and your car would overheat. It's not your drive belt.

I checked the voltage of the alternator while the ac the lights and the radio were on while the car was running and the alternator is putting out 14.1 volts

Keep your mutimeter in the car until it does it again. The battery light means your alternator isn't charging correctly.

Ok thanks for your help

Scotty says change the drive belt and have the alternator tested at 7:10

Also, check all the wires and connections for the alternator and battery to make sure you don't have rust, loose cables, etc.

you could have a failing AC clutch

Have the alternator tested. most auto parts stores in the US do it for free. while you're at it might as well test the battery too and make sure it's not faulty

I have a 2013 Chrysler 200 LX with a 2.4 litre engine. The battery light comes on and then turns off for several days only to come back on again. I have a new battery and the cars puts out 14.3 volts while driving. The cables to the battery are clean and secure what could be causing the light to keep coming on?

Read the rules on the front page please. Double posting is not allowed. I've merged this with your previous topic. Thanks.
