Hi, I have an 06 toyota solara 2006 4cyl 130k miles, was driving home yesterday and my battery light came on, what should I check and how can I reset it/make it go away.

Also do I need a new battery?

I opened the hood and the battery terminals have some sort of purple-coloration on it.

Please Help

Thank you for your responses.

You might start by testing the alternator as well as the battery.

At the very least, remove the terminals and clean off the corrosion with a wire brush, then go get your battery and alternator load tested.

You posted this same question over an hour ago. Please take note of the following in the forum rules. Thank you.

Sorry sir, was a mistake not sure how that happened.

I would just click once or otherwise it tends to post multiple times. I know most people tend to post multiple times unintentionally

No problem, like I said just keep it in mind. It's tough to keep track of the progress of questions and answers if the same thing is spread among multiple threads.

@legendaryslayer, when that happens typically the posting times are no more than a minute or two apart if that. In this case it was over an hour. In fact there were two posts at that time within seconds of each other, I silently deleted the extra since that time it was obviously caused by just clicking on the button more than once.

I normally do that. Thanks for the tip @chucktobias
