Can I remove and throw away the plastic beauty cover over my engine (2017 Honda Accord V6). Do they perform any function???

it's just for beauty as the name implies. The engine will run exactly the same without it. (except maybe a little more noise)

You can remove it. In general those covers are supposed to reduce engine noise and protect the engine from dust, debris, etc. while adding a cleaner look to the engine bay. Up to you, but I personally like to see the engine when I lift the hood.

When I took my X5 into the shop, the mechanic showed me his X5 and he was proud to have taken the beauty cover off.
methinks it actually helps with cooling the engine. Just a tiny bit.
