Scotty, you have been a mechanic for a long time now. I would like to know what are some of the best advancements, in your opinion, that you have seen in your lengthy career.

It came in the 1980's.
The cup holder.
That sure was a good one.

Aside from the cup holder already mentioned, fuel injection. Some cars sold in the U.S. offered it in the 1950s through 1970s but it really did not become mainstream until the 1980s. Although I love old cars I hate fiddling around with carburetors.

How about old ignition systems? Changing parts and adjusting gaps and timing -points, plugs, cables and distributor caps. Ignition tune-ups used to be half of the maintenance on cars. Now, you can go years without touching anything.
