I am looking for a basic 4x4 - manual transmission, regular or extend cab and with at least 5.7l engine. I do not wish to buy anything that has more computing power than what nasa has today. I believe in KISS Keep it simple stupid. The past 15 plus years of automotive manufacturing has made me sick as a dog. Everything so over engineered it's ridiculous, and it only made it more expensive to keep and repair. I like Toyota's, GM, Dodge up to 2007. I dont like FIAT. So if you have any words of wisdom please let me know

Best regards

Bruce

The government has pretty much guaranteed that this will happen.

If you're looking for a truck for work, and not just for looks, then you might consider a basic Chevy/GMC full size van.

While fit & finish leave something to be desired, they have remained very low tech. The vans escaped cylinder deactivation, and there aren't dozens of computers to control every little thing (like HVAC for instance). They're still relatively simple to diagnose. But you will never get away from it completely. Especially not with North American gadget loaded half ton pickups.
