I have a 2010 Dodge Challenger RT (5.7L HEMI) 5 Speed Automatic Transmission with 12,300 Miles, I go to a local mechanic and have an Oil Change once a year since I don't drive too much. They use a Motocraft Synthetic Blend Oil (5W20) along with some other BG Products . Should I have them switch to a FULL Synthetic Oil instead, or I purchase the Synthetical oil myself (Car take 7 Quarts). Also what would be the best Oil Filter... Mobil 1, Wix, OEM MOPAR Brand or a K & N? Plus where can I purchase JUST one bottle of Bernie's Fuel Cleaner(CRF 505). I looked but have had no luck.
Any advice would be appreciated, Keith
any of those filters are fine, and any oil that meets the specifications listed in your owner's manual is fine. Spending any more is a waste of money.
If you're only changing the engine oil once a year you should really use full synthetic
I personally use the Walmart brand Super tech oil
And the cheapest 10,000 MI oil filter
He is only changing once a year cause he drives little, so he can use cheaper oil and cheaper filter. But for that engine i think too that full syn is better suited.
I was saying full synthetic because I believe that the other oils break down faster
I go with whatever name brand oil is the cheapest. Right now, I have a case of Mobil1 from Costco. If they are all about the same price at the store I am at, I go for Castrol. But I’ve used them all at one time or another.
Filters I go OEM.
What they are using is good you really don't need to use Bernie's stuff you don't have any problems I just drive it more ☮️
I prefer Valvoline Extended Protection motor oil and K & N oil filters.
