Hi, can you give me your best advice on what car to buy. I had purchased a 2016 Ford Focus and now this car is being bought back due to transmission issues. They are taking possession 12/30. I am looking at the RAV4 hybrid, the suburu crosstrek limited, or the Mazda CX-5. Any advice is appreciated or any other car u would recommend. I have seen your Toyota rav 4 video but could not determine if you thought the hybrid is a good idea or not. Thank you Scott
Clarification: How many years/miles do you need it to last you? Do you need AWD?
thanks for the reply. I keep my cars forever. AWD yes I would like as I live in Northeast Ohio
Read the new consumer report and they give the Suburu Crosstrek (85) and the Mazda cx5 (82) better overall ratings than the Rav 4 at (68) for 2021
If you want the longest-lasting one out of all the 3, I would probably go with either the Crosstrek or the CX-5, RAV 4 hybrid is pretty good until they get to a certain mileage where they can turn into money pits when the hybrid system components start to break. If you consider the regular Rav4, then that is the better choice for longevity.
The Crosstrek is a good bet for that category of car.
Nothing particularly wrong with the RAV4...Consumer Reports is a useless publication. I don't believe a word they say. But if it worries you, why not consider the non-hybrid RAV4? My parents have one, a 2021, and with 17k miles it's been flawless.
Not an answer but was the issue with the focus you owned a issue where the car would jerk when taking off from a complete stop bc my mom had that exact issue with her 2012 model
Yes the 2106 was in a class action lawsuit- had 4 clutch replacements total. had to go through a fair amount of paperwork but a price was negotiated with Ford for a buyback minus milage fee usage. This transmission cannot be fixed. I do see these being sold on the dealerships lot and wonder if now my car being bought back will go to some unsuspecting buyer. I would never sell this to a person.
