Hi Scotty,
Big fan of your show 😎
I would like to build a cabin on top of a Toyota Tundra to sell my skincare products directly to customers (imagine a structure like a big sleeping cabin or food truck style on top of the Tundra).
I have looked for single cabin Tundras with the biggest possible platform on the back in NYC.
Which Tundra would you pick if you had 5-10k$ for my project? I am not going offroad and won't drive in snowstorms.
Is the V6 from 2005 the best choice with 150k miles? Are the 2000-2004 or 2005 upwards better?
Is the V6 also an interference engine like the V8?
Thanks a lot for your time and help 😊
Stan
I would do a V8 so you can move all the extra weight you'll be adding. Probably need a regular cab long bed.
You have to know what you want. The v8 has more power than the v6, but requires a lot more maintenance. The 2000-2004 tundra v8 has 235hp. The 2005-2006 tundra v8 has 271hp The 2000-2004 tundra v6 has only 190hp, while the tundra v6 2005-2006 has 235hp.
I would seriously consider a van for this project.
But yes, go V8. You'll need it with that kind of payload on that poor Tundra.
Keep in mind there might be better options than the Tundra for really heavy payload. But it's your money and project.
