Craigslist has always been great for me. I've bought a couple off of CarGurus as well from private sellers, but Craigslist by far is the best for private seller purchases.
Under 3k private party is your best bet so I would go to criagslist<cars and trucks< by owner
I’ve had good luck with Craigslist, Cargurus, Cars.com, and Autotrader.
All the other websites mentioned by others are great and I compare prices from all of them frequently, but another option is edmunds, truecar, kbb, and carfax. But the others that the other members have mention are equally as good. I am sure there are a few others that other members will mention that are just as good, I would recommend checking all of these places out and see which car you find gets you the best bang for your buck.
Autotempst is the best site. It shows cars from all the website pages in one. You can even narrow the listings from specific pages you want to see from for example autotrader or eBay.
