  • When I get to work we are usually locked out of the gate and sit for about 10 minutes before we are able to park in the parking garage would it be better to shut my car off or let it idle for 10 minutes

Most mechanical wear is done at startup. For 10 minutes, I would just let it idle. Better to have everything up to temp and being lubricated than to shit it down, have it cool just a little bit, only to fire it up again for a short trip.

I agree with the above comment, especially with this cold weather.

better for who?

It's better for your car to stay running.

Better for your wallet? Depending on the car you drive, you could be idling through a tank of gas every couple of weeks.
