Aloha,
08 Toyota Solara, V6, Automatic, convertible SLE, 151k
Just bought it a week ago, got good deal because owners blew head right after they paid to get it done. Had head repaired, drives great.
Soooo looking at papers in car, shows lex broodies service done on tranny like a month ago, they changed the fluid out, with BG ATF full synthetic, and BG conditioner.
Never heard of that crap, is it ok fluid? Or should I change it out with some more legit stuff.
my friend who works at Toyota as a mechanic told me BG is more expensive than OEM fluid. I asked him why you guys use that, he said because if he adds BG into trans there will be no problem with old WS or multi-fluid. many cars have been done by non-dealership will have multi-fluid inside of the car. He doesn't know the car's maintenance records, if he uses WS there are maybe some problems. Because when WS is mixed multi-fluid can sometimes cause problems. For 2008 Solara with 5-speed will have no problem with WS, BG at all. Multi-fluid like max life is OK but not good. But for the new 8-speed use WS only, BG is OK, and Multi-fluid is a BIG NO. For them to have an easy job they just use BG.
multi-fluid like Valvoline max life claims that works for WS or Type-IV which is not true, if any multi-fluid is ok to use in Type IV they are not OK for WS.
You should be fine. Alot of dealer advertise this service. The fluid seems okay.
