I have a 2009 toyota matrix 1.8 manual trans.
when i shift into 4th and 5th gear i hear a ticking noise. i do not hear any thing in 1st and 2nd gear.

Well probably inside a transmission force and 5th gear probably worn because if it's an engine noise or anything it won't matter what gear you're in the only thing difference between the two gears and those other two gears are some aren't worn and some are worn I personally would change the fluid and live with it as long as it runs because nobody rebuilds those things anymore
